Northrop Grumman will help the Commonwealth of Australia establish sovereign manufacturing for solid rocket motors (SRMs). These components serve as critical propulsion for long-range strike systems and guided missiles.

The partnership aims to strengthen Australia’s defense self-reliance and industrial base. A formal industry engagement process will now begin to define domestic production requirements.

The program integrates Australian suppliers into the manufacturing process to build a resilient domestic supply chain. Local industry will gain access to Northrop Grumman’s advanced propulsion technology.

This initiative aligns with Australia’s 2026 National Defence Strategy. Production will initially focus on rocket motors for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS).
