The U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC) awarded up to $3.2 billion in contracts to 12 companies. These agreements fund the development of the Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program.

The SBI initiative serves as a critical component of the Golden Dome missile-defense system. Officials structured the awards as Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements to increase flexibility and competition.

Contract recipients include Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, RTX, and General Dynamics Mission Systems. The program establishes a space-based layer for national missile defense. This investment drives technological development across the aerospace and defense sectors.
