The United States has suspended a pending $14 billion arms package for Taiwan. Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao confirmed the freeze during a Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee hearing.
Cao cited the critical need to preserve domestic military stockpiles for the ongoing conflict with Iran. Taiwan’s presidential office stated on May 23 that it has not yet received official notice of the suspension.
The delay adds to a growing order backlog for major defense contractors including Lockheed Martin and RTX. This supply diversion may pressure short-term revenue forecasts for aerospace and defense holdings.
