Autoliv will gradually discontinue its manufacturing operations in Türkiye, as announced on May 8, 2026. The company aims to align production capacity with future market demand in the EMEA region.
The closure affects approximately 2,200 employees involved in steering wheel, airbag, and seatbelt production. Autoliv will relocate production to other EMEA facilities, with the full shutdown expected by the first half of 2028. This move reflects structural shifts occurring within the global automotive industry.
Autoliv anticipates a pre-tax charge of approximately $142 million for this alignment. The company will record the majority of this charge in the second quarter of 2026. Cash costs for severance and employee expenses total $129 million. Non-cash charges for asset write-offs account for $13 million.
