XPeng Inc. launched its G9L AI flagship SUV in China today. The company plans to release the vehicle in 64 markets worldwide. A formal global launch event is scheduled for October 12 at the Paris Motor Show. The G9L will be available in both fully electric and range-extended versions.
Production will take place in Guangzhou, China, and at Magna's facility in Graz, Austria. This move makes the G9L the fourth XPeng model produced in Europe. The vehicle utilizes the Turing AI chip, the same hardware used in XPeng’s humanoid robots. This shared architecture aims to drive long-term product development and cost efficiencies.
XPeng intends to monetize its AI-driven systems and EV architecture by selling solutions to other automakers. This strategy seeks to create high-margin revenue streams to fund capital-intensive projects. Primary investment areas include AI, robotics, and robotaxi development.
