Argentina’s state-owned YPF agreed to sell stakes in three Vaca Muerta shale gas blocks to Italy’s Eni and Abu Dhabi-based XRG.
Eni and XRG will each acquire a 32% interest in the Meseta Buena Esperanza, Aguada Villanueva, and Las Tacanas blocks.
YPF retains a 36% stake and remains the operator of the three sites.
This partnership advances the Argentina LNG project to establish the nation as a global supplier.
Gas from these blocks will feed a planned floating LNG facility with a 12 million-tonne-per-annum capacity.
