SK hynix is resuming construction on the second phase of its NAND flash memory plant in Dalian, China. Its subsidiary, Solidigm, is reviving the project after a four-year hiatus caused by a market downturn. The expansion aims to boost production capacity by approximately 50% to meet surging demand from AI data centers.
The project adds 50,000 wafers to the existing monthly capacity of 100,000. This increase brings the Dalian site’s total output to 150,000 wafers per month.
SK hynix is implementing a dual-track manufacturing strategy. The Dalian facility will produce mature NAND products. Advanced, high-layer NAND production will remain concentrated in South Korean facilities.
Equipment installation at the Dalian site begins as early as November. Mass production is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
