Samsung Electronics developed the industry's first Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 5.0 solution for on-device artificial intelligence. The memory targets future mobile devices, wearables, and extended reality headsets.

The new storage more than doubles the performance of its predecessor. Sequential read speeds reach up to 10.8 GB/s. Sequential write speeds reach up to 9.5 GB/s.

The UFS 5.0 solution increases power efficiency by over 40%. The hardware package is 16.7% smaller than previous models.

Samsung plans to begin mass production in the fourth quarter of 2026. Storage capacities will be available up to 1TB.
