Data center operator AirTrunk, which is backed by Blackstone and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), announced plans to invest over $30 billion in India by 2030. The investment aims to develop more than 5 gigawatts of data center capacity to meet the country's surging demand for AI and cloud computing infrastructure. The announcement follows a meeting between AirTrunk's CEO Robin Khuda and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This commitment positions India as a cornerstone of AirTrunk's global growth strategy and marks one of the largest digital infrastructure investments in the country. The expansion will span multiple states and is expected to generate significant employment and support local supply chains. The company entered the Indian market in April 2026 with the acquisition of Lumina CloudInfra, which provided an initial development pipeline of 600MW.
