BYD’s premium brand Denza launched the N9 Flash Charge Edition SUV in China. Starting prices of 409,800 yuan ($60,260) are significantly lower than initial pre-sale estimates.
The flagship model features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. Flash charging technology enables the vehicle to reach a 97% charge in nine minutes. The plug-in hybrid delivers a pure electric range of 420 km.
Surging demand for this technology has forced production adjustments across the company. BYD delayed the launch of the Great Tang SUV until June. Pre-sale orders for the Great Tang surpassed 100,000 units. This volume strained the supply of the new Blade Battery 2.0.
