BYD sold 12,754 electric cars in the United Kingdom between January and April 2026. This volume established the company as the region's best-selling electric vehicle (EV) brand.
BYD now holds over 7% of the UK EV market share. These figures place the company ahead of established competitors including Tesla, BMW, and Volkswagen. The brand also ranks as the most popular EV choice among private UK buyers.
Including plug-in hybrid models, BYD’s total new energy vehicle sales reached 26,396 units year-to-date. This secures a 9.5% share of the broader UK market. During this same period, the overall UK EV market grew by 22%.
