A Canadian National Railway train crew encountered a severe wildfire near Armstrong, Ontario. A viral video showed the locomotive surrounded by flames. All crew members were safely evacuated.

CN temporarily suspended rail operations in the region as a precautionary measure. The company also stopped and staged at least three other trains carrying combustible and flammable materials in the vicinity due to wildfire activity. CN is coordinating with the Ministry of Natural Resources and local authorities.

The Teamsters Canada union criticized the railway. The union stated the incident "should never have happened." Teamsters Canada added that CN was aware of wildfire dangers in the area before dispatching the train.
