Societatea Energetica Electrica S.A. will manage thermal energy production for Craiova’s centralized heating system (SACET). The Craiova Local Council will meet on August 21, 2026, to grant final approval for the agreement. This concession contract spans a 12-year period.
The agreement carries a total value exceeding 2 billion lei. Electrica will construct and operate a new high-efficiency cogeneration or renewable energy power plant.
This investment replaces the city’s current coal-based facility to meet national decarbonization goals. The project advances Electrica’s strategy to expand its energy production portfolio.
