Societatea Energetică Electrica S.A. obtained technical grid connection permits for 17 new battery energy storage projects. These facilities represent a total capacity of approximately 700 MWh.
The permits confirm technical solutions for grid connection and move the projects into design and execution phases. CEO Alexandru-Aurelian Chiriță expects these storage capacities to be operational by the end of 2027.
The development supports Electrica’s 2030 Strategy to achieve 1 GW of generation capacity. The company also aims for a total storage capacity of at least 900 MWh.
This expansion intends to enhance the security and flexibility of the national energy system. It will further accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources.
