Microsoft-owned LinkedIn announced plans on Wednesday to lay off approximately 5% of its staff. The cuts will impact about 875 employees. LinkedIn currently employs a global workforce of over 17,500. Affected roles include positions in engineering, product, and marketing.

The platform is restructuring to refocus on its fastest-growing business areas. A company spokesperson confirmed the changes are part of regular business planning.

LinkedIn reported a 12% year-over-year revenue increase in the most recent quarter. Sources indicated the move is not related to artificial intelligence replacing jobs.
