Pony.ai and Verne launched Europe’s first fully driverless robotaxi test rides on public roads in Zagreb, Croatia. This initiative advances the company’s goal of achieving full commercial autonomous operations across the region.
The 22-kilometer route connects Verne’s headquarters and a business district to Franjo Tuđman Airport Zagreb. Service areas will expand in the coming months.
The project stems from a partnership between Pony.ai, Verne, and Uber to establish a commercial European robotaxi service. Pony.ai provides the autonomous driving systems. Verne manages service operations. Uber integrates the fleet into its ride-hailing platform.
The fleet has logged over 200,000 kilometers since its initial launch. The service first began with safety drivers in April. Thousands of passengers have provided positive feedback during the initial phase.
