Samsung Electronics union members voted to approve a contentious wage and bonus agreement. The resolution ends a dispute that threatened the first major strike in the company’s history.

Nearly 74% of union members supported the deal. A total of 62,616 workers participated in the vote. The balloting process concluded on May 27.

The agreement averts a walkout that could have disrupted memory chip supplies for AI data centers and smartphones. The core of the deal introduces a new bonus structure for the semiconductor division.

Internal friction remains as workers in other departments expressed dissatisfaction over compensation disparities.
