Apple announced the A20 Pro, the smartphone industry’s first chip built on 2-nanometer process technology. The new architecture will debut in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The chip features a 6-core CPU equipped with two new desktop-class high-performance cores. A new 7-core GPU delivers speeds up to 40% faster than the previous generation.
A dual 16-core Neural Engine provides 32 total cores to double the AI processing power of the A19 Pro. The A20 Pro also increases memory bandwidth by 50 percent.
Apple integrated a new vapor chamber to improve thermal management for the hardware. These upgrades aim to enhance power efficiency and on-device artificial intelligence capabilities.
