ASML Holding N.V. will increase its Japanese workforce to approximately 700 employees. The company plans to reach this target by 2030. Current regional headcount stands at 500 staff.
The expansion supports Japan’s push for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. ASML will assist Rapidus with 2-nanometer chip production. Rapidus plans to begin this production in 2027.
The company also provides support for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) second fabrication plant in Kumamoto prefecture. ASML sales in Japan reached $1.4 billion. The company achieved this total in 2025.
ASML is strengthening local operations to serve key clients including TSMC, Rapidus, and Micron Technology. Bank of America recently named ASML its top semiconductor stock pick for 2026.
